Guideline for Meditators on retreats

In addition to the eight precepts the following guidelines should be followed :

1. Meditators should maintain silence at all times, not only during group meditation periods.

2. No reading or listening to the radios is permitted.

3. Writing should be kept to an absolute minimum although making short notes in preparation for meditation reports is allowed. Please be on time for meditation reports.

4. Meditators should stay at the centre for the entire retreat.

5. Meditators should be considerate to other meditators.

6. Please help to keep the centre clean and tidy.

7. On longer retreats the meditators may be asked to do some simple chores.

8. Registration should be made at the start of a retreat.

9. Please do not sit on the pillow provided for sleeping. You may use a rolled up blanket or a cushion instead.

10. If you have any problems please do not hesitate to discuss them with the teachers.

11. It is customary to make donations for the monk, nuns and teachers at the end of a retreat.
